Abdulrahman Koroma secures Africap x Fambul green jersey
The first event of the Science In Sport Tour De Lunsar was the junior race, supported by Africap and Fambul. 71 junior men started the day’s action as the next generation made their bid for glory in the Salone sun.
Once the racing was underway there were no shortage of riders wanting to get into the early breakaway as plenty attacked from the start. Nobody could make it stick though, meaning that a large group re-entered Lunsar for the closing laps of the local circuit. A bunch sprint was firmly on the cards.
In the end a closely fought finish led to Abdulrahman Koroma of Lunsar Cycling Team crossing the line first ahead of Mohamed Bangura of Kono Cycling 1 and Henry Koroma from Makeni Cycling to claim the Fambul X Africap green jersey.
Speaking after the race Koroma said:
“This has been my dream since I started training six months ago and I’m just so happy to win”.
This victory could be the springboard that our green jersey winner needs to go on to achieve greatness within the sport.
“I think there’s a chance for me now” he stated.
Koroma has been training on Zwift in the run-up to the race.
Having the platform to succeed is so important for young riders and we cannot wait to see who will step up and join Abdulrahman as a green jersey winner next year.
